Shop Industrial Hearing Ear Muffs by NRR Rating

The Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) measures how well a hearing protector, when worn properly, reduces the noise level (attenuation in db). The higher the number is, the greater the noise reduction is. It is critical to wear the hearing protector during the entire time of exposure to excessive/dangerous noise levels. For example, you are listening to music and the sound is 140 decibels(db). If you wear a product with the NRR of 40 dB, you can figure the sound level entering your ear to be 100 (140-40=100).
The NRR is a rating required by law. It must appear on the label of each hearing protector sold in the United States. The NRR is specified by 40 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations), Part 211, Product Noise Labeling, Subpart B - Hearing Protection Devices. The NRR is independent of the noise spectrum in which it is applied.
